Vom 19. bis 21. Mai 2026 findet das vierzehnte jährliche MESSy Symposium am SCC statt, auf dem international führende Expertinnen und Experten die unterschiedlichsten Anwendungsbereiche des Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy) erörtern. MESSy ist ein modularer Kopplungsansatz, der physikalische und chemische Submodelle mit einem atmosphärischen Basismodell (z. B. ECHAM, ICON oder COSMO) verbindet und so eine konsistente Simulation verschiedener Komponenten des Erdsystems ermöglicht. In dieser gekoppelten Konfiguration werden neben der Atmosphäre – von der Troposphäre bis in die Mesosphäre – auch Ozean, Vegetation sowie Prozesse an der Landoberfläche berücksichtigt. MESSy wird am KIT am Institut für Meteorologie und Klimaforschung (IMK) und am SCC im Simulation Data Lab Erdsystemwissenschaften verwendet.

A close exchange with users is essential for the further development of the NHR@KIT services and infrastructures. For this reason, a new series of events has been launched, where operators and users can meet and exchange ideas in an informal setting: HPC Café.
 
In addition to our established contact channels and training courses, we offer the HPC Café at regular intervals.
 
The event will take place from 10 am to 12 pm with a keynote speech, which will be followed by a discussion.

Of course, a question and answer session is also planned. Here, users can address HPC-related topics and problems. We will try to find solutions together.

Für die partnerschaftliche Zusammenarbeit im Bereich der Informationsverarbeitung wurden dem zentralen IT-Dienstleister SCC in der Vergangenheit sogenannte IT-Beauftragte bzw. IT-Koordinatoren benannt.
Hierzu findet zweimal im Jahr eine Informationsveranstaltung für alle benannten IT-Beauftragen statt.
