A close exchange with users is essential for the further development of the NHR@KIT services and infrastructures. For this reason, a new series of events has been launched, where operators and users can meet and exchange ideas in an informal setting: HPC Café.
 
In addition to our established contact channels and training courses, we offer the HPC Café at regular intervals.
 
The event will take place from 10 am to 12 pm with a keynote speech, which will be followed by a discussion.

Of course, a question and answer session is also planned. Here, users can address HPC-related topics and problems. We will try to find solutions together.

Das Scientific Computing Center lädt Sie herzlich am 20. Oktober 2026 zum Kurs "Hochleistungsrechnen (HPC) und Datenmanagement - Teil 1" ein. Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an alle (zukünftigen) Nutzenden der bwHPC-Cluster (bwUniCluster 3.0, bwForCluster), BaWü-Datenföderation sowie der NHR@KIT-Infrastruktur inkl. HoreKa und umfasst allgemeine Informationen über Zugang und Nutzung der Cluster und Speichersysteme. Die Präsenzveranstaltung kombiniert Vorträge mit Tutorien und richtet sich an Einsteiger mit Linux-Vorkenntnissen (siehe https://mmesiti.github.io/shell-novice/). Zur Vorbereitung empfehlen wir Ihnen den Kurs Introduction to the Bash Shell for Researchers and HPC users. Der Kurs findet in englischer Sprache statt. Es fallen keine Teilnahmegebühren an.

Das Scientific Computing Center lädt Sie herzlich am 21.10. 2026 zum Kurs "Hochleistungsrechnen- (HPC) und Daten-Management-Themen - Teil 2" ein. Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an alle aktiven, forgeschrittenen Nutzer der bwHPC-Cluster (bwUniCluster, bwForCluster) und des Hochleistungsrechners HoreKa und umfasst Batch- und Job-Scripting, weiterführendes Jobmanagement (inkl. für parallele Anwendungen), Kompilieren, Remote-Visualisierung und Daten-Management. Vorkenntnisse im Umgang mit der Bash-Shell und dem Linux-Kommandozeileninterface werden für diesen Kurs empfohlen. Die Präsenzveranstaltung kombiniert Vorträge mit Tutorien. Der Kurs findet in englischer Sprache statt.  Es fallen keine Teilnahmegebühren an.

Für die partnerschaftliche Zusammenarbeit im Bereich der Informationsverarbeitung wurden dem zentralen IT-Dienstleister SCC in der Vergangenheit sogenannte IT-Beauftragte bzw. IT-Koordinatoren benannt.
Hierzu findet zweimal im Jahr eine Informationsveranstaltung für alle benannten IT-Beauftragen statt.
