Until the beginning of 2020, the Praktomat software was primarily used at the Faculty of Computer Science for the administration, submission and automated evaluation of programming and project tasks at KIT. Developed by a team at KIT's Institute for Program Structures and Data Organization (IPD), Praktomat was widely used in many departments - it primarily offered a local testing framework, a peer review function and simple submission control.
Artemis is a newer, open-source based learning management system originally developed at the TU Munich, which offers the main function "Automated assessment of programming tasks (code submission possible)".
In 2022, Artemis was introduced at the Institute for Information Security and Reliability (KASTEL) and made available to the lecturers there. Due to the great success and the broad need to make Artemis available KIT-wide, the migration to the SCC took place in spring 2026.
