Checklist computer relocation / new installation
What to consider on the old PC:
Local files
Data that you have stored in departmental applications or on departmental drives is backed up on servers. They will be available again as usual after the move. You don't have to worry about this data.
Locally stored files are usually found on the desktop or, for example, in the "Documents", "Downloads" or "Pictures" folders on your PC. If you want to keep these files, they need to be backed up. Move the files to a server drive, or to your personal KIT data storage directory, drive U:\ or H:\.
E-mail certificate
Make sure you have access to the file AND password saved when you applied for your email certificate. Often the file was saved in your personal directory (drive U:\ or H:\). If the file is stored locally, back it up to the server.
If you no longer have the file or password, export your certificate and save it to your personal directory.
Browser bookmarks
Have you created many bookmarks in your browser? Then you can save them and save them in a file on your personal drive. Instructions for exporting bookmarks in: Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Edge.
Outlook
All your Outlook data (mails, calendars, tasks, etc.) are stored on the server and are immediately available to you after logging on to your new PC. Exception: locally stored archive files of mails. These archive files have to be saved on the personal directory. Self-created signatures have to be saved (instructions).
Printers and drives
Make a note of which drives and printers you have connected, preferably the complete path. If the drives and printers do not connect automatically on the new PC, contact TC support.

What to do on the new PC:
Local files
Locally stored data should not be used, as it can no longer be accessed if the computer is defective. The data is then lost. It is better to store the data on central servers(personal or OU directory) and to create shortcuts for direct access.
If you travel a lot with your notebook, e.g. on the train, and often have no Internet connection, store the most important data locally. However, always remember to back up these files regularly.
E-mail certificate
Install the e-mail certificate saved from the old PC on your new computer (instructions). After that, you still have to make settings in Outlook.
Browser bookmarks
Import the backed up bookmarks into Firefox, Chrome or Edge. If you have been using Internet Explorer, take this opportunity to switch to another browser. Microsoft has discontinued Internet Explorer, and it will no longer be available in the new operating systems.
Outlook
When you start Outlook for the first time, it will be set up. Here it is important to check "I want to set up my account manually" and then select "Exchange". On the page "Access KIT Mailbox" you will find instructions.
